Teaching the Process
The book, Stories, Music and Imagery, contains an easy to understand guide for adults. Directions are included for each of the 20 stories. Music correlated to each story is listed on the CD.
The adult follows six steps to guide children through the music and imagery process:
-
Read the story.
-
Help the children relax, quiet their bodies, and close their eyes or stare softly.
-
Read the directions to the children. (Each set of directions encourages the children to relate to the meaning of that particular story during the music.)
-
Play the music for the story on the CD.
-
Gently invite the children to remember their experience.
-
Ask the children to describe their experience through writing, drawing, or verbal sharing.
This process can be used by parents with their children, teachers with their classrooms, or counselors with individuals or groups of children.
